Project Synopsis
Denver Public Schools contracted Spyder Environmental to support a planned mechanical upgrade at George Washington High School by performing targeted asbestos abatement in the boiler room. The project involved the removal of approximately 45 linear feet of asbestos-containing thermal system insulation (TSI) from deteriorated water lines in preparation for plumbing replacement work. Working in the confined space of a boiler room required detailed planning and logistical coordination. The installation of multiple scaffold towers was essential to safely access overhead piping while minimizing disruption to surrounding systems.
RESULTS
Spyder Environmental established full containment to isolate the affected area, removed the asbestos-insulated water lines in compliance with CDPHE regulations, and ensured proper air monitoring and clearance. By safely removing the hazardous materials, the project enabled critical infrastructure upgrades— supporting a safe and healthy environment for students, staff, and maintenance personnel.
