Removal and Replacement of Vapor Barrier
Project Synopsis
Spyder Environmental was engaged by Denver Public Schools to perform lead decontamination at five school facilities with former indoor firing ranges—remnants of past JROTC programs. These spaces posed health risks due to
accumulated lead dust and spent casings. The project focused on replacing approximately 1,000 square feet of vapor
barrier and eliminating residual lead hazards to protect building occupants. Spyder removed and replaced the vapor barrier at all five sites, thoroughly decontaminating surfaces and ventilation systems to address lead dust and debris. Spent casings were removed, and all work followed EPA and OSHA lead abatement protocols.
RESULTS
The project was completed on time and in full compliance with environmental regulations. Spyder’s work helped Denver Public Schools mitigate legacy hazards and ensure safer conditions for students, staff, and facility personnel.
